Contributed by: Karen Dvorchak on 12/7/2007

SCRAPBOOKERS TAKE NOTE:

Is scrapbooking your passion? Then Douglas County Libraries has resources for you! Whether you are new to this craft, or a seasoned pro, the Douglas County Libraries collection has over 79 books, DVD's and magazines for all age levels. Here are some personal favorites:

The Encyclopedia of Scrapbooking Tools and Techniques, by Susan Pickering Rothamel, offers an A-Z guide to everything you could possibly want to know, from supplies to instructional how-to's. Her featured artists, experts in their field, are inspiring. This book is a great resource for design and layout ideas. Other favorite titles offering an overview of this craft include The Joy of Scrapbooking, by Kerry Arquette, and The Ultimate Guide to Scrapbooking, by Memory Makers Publications.

If you are an experienced scrapbooker and want to challenge your design abilities, check out A Designer's Eye for Scrapbooking, by Ali Edwards and Special Effects Scrapbooking by Jill Miller. Computer saavy scrapbookers will enjoy Digital Scrapbooking, by Maria Nerius,Digital Scrapbooking for Dummies,by Jeanne Wines-Reed, and Digital Delights for Scrapbooking,by Sue Martin.

The library district's collection contains scrapbooking titles for every theme album imaginable. Scrapbooking Your Vacations,by Sue Ure, Scrapbooking Your Wedding,by Memory Makers Books, and Scrapbooking your Pets, by Stacy Panassidi, are but a few. Peruse the collection further for scrapbooking titles on children of all ages, sports, school days, recipes, and holidays. Additionally, the collection offers instructional DVD's and current and past issues of two periodicals:Creating Keepsakes andMemory Makers.

Currently, my personal interest in scrapbooking is in researching and recording my family history. Our expert and helpful reference staff at Douglas County Libraries can assist you with geneology questions and help you research on our powerful geneology databases. Scrapbooking Your Family History, by Laura Best, and Family History Scrapbooking, by Becky Higgins, will inspire you to put it down on paper and help you organize, preserve and store family photos and mementos.

Finally, for your reading relaxation, if you enjoy Dianne Mott Davidson's mystery novels as much for her recipes as the storyline, check out Laura Child's cozy mystery series starting with Keepsake Crimes. Carmela Bertrand, proprieter of a scrapbooking store in New Orleans, finds clues in her craft for solving crimes. Scrapbooking tips are included in every chapter.
