More than 400 kids and 200 trained and passionate volunteer leaders will "take over" Abiding Hope for Vacation Bible School June 9-12 from 9 a.m. to noon.
This year's theme, Power Lab, has a science flair: Lab characters like "Fizz," "Sparki" and "Electra," will help each child discover Jesus' miraculous power. Every day, the children rotate through stations.
During Hyperspeed Games, for example, an energetic, hands-on experience reinforces the Daily Bible Point. At Test Tube Treats, all the kids get to refuel. Everyone will also have the chance to participate in the Operation Kid-to-Kid Mission Project, the Gospel Outreach Soccer Ball.
There will be a celebratory final Power Party for families and friends June 12 at 6 p.m. Classes can fill up fast, so it's a good idea to register early: either at the church, 6337 S. Robb Way (near Coal Mine and Simms), 303.972.1283, or go to www.abidinghopelutheran.org. Online payment is also available. The fee is $25 a child for the entire session.
