STARTING DECEMBER 5
LAKEWOOD, Colorado-November 16, 2008 - Bear Valley Church, known for their outstanding holiday productions, presents this Christmas season, Charles Dickens'
A Christmas Carol. Adapted for the stage, and under the direction of David and Julie Payne, the play is enhanced with traditional and original music, magic and holiday spirit. This classic, timeless tale of redemption and the true meaning of the festive season will feature more than 50 adult and child actors on the Bear Valley stage.
First published in 1843,
A Christmas Carol quickly became a holiday favorite and remains one of Charles Dickens' most widely recognized and popular creations. On Christmas Eve, penny-pinching Ebenezer Scrooge is his usual miserly self, chasing off solicitors for the poor, chastises his sole employee, Bob Cratchit, for wanting to take off Christmas Day and insults his nephew Fred for celebrating a holiday that "has never put a penny in anyone's pocket." Later that night, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his dead partner, who warns of the arrival of three spirits who will show him the miserable path he has chosen and offers him a chance to correct his ways.
