Jerome Jackson named Rotary Student of the Month

The DTC Rotary Club has selected Jerome Jackson Interact Student of the Month. Jerome, a senior at Denver’s Thomas Jefferson High School, is an active member of the Interact Club, sponsored by the DTC Rotary Club of Englewood.

While maintaining his grades in four Advanced Placement classes, Jerome also finds time to perform in TJ theater productions and is a member of the Drama Club and the Thespian Society. He has been accepted at CU Boulder for next fall and plans to study chemistry or history. Jerome is also a member of the TJ Student Council and the National Honor Society. Outside of school he is a youth deacon at his church.

One of Jerome’s current projects is a school supply drive at Thomas Jefferson. School supplies will be distributed through a partnership with an Interact Club in Tanzania that was arranged on a recent trip by Dana Arell, one of the DTC Interact Rotary sponsors.

Interact is a service club for young people ages 14-18 created in 1962 by Rotary International and established in more than 100 countries. The youth clubs are self-governing and self-supporting giving Interactors a chance to develop leadership skills while learning the value of good teamwork. DTC Rotary sponsors for the Thomas Jefferson club are Sherry Hanson, Rob Packard and Dana Arell. Danny Showers is the Interact Club’s advisor.

The DTC Rotary Club meets on Tuesdays at noon at the Glenmoor Country Club. For membership information visit the DTC Rotary Web site at dtcrotary.org or contact Sherry Hanson at shehanson@msn.com.
