50 Years of serving you is worth celebrating


South Suburban Parks and Recreation continues its special 50-cent Friday activities commemorating 50 years of service to the community on July 10 at Family Sports Center, 6901 S. Peoria St., in Centennial. Visitors will enjoy 50-cent public skating and 50-cent skate rental at 10 am, 1 pm and 8 pm; plus 50-cent entertainment rides all day, from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

On July 24, Buck Recreation Center, 2004 W. Powers Ave., in Littleton, will offer 50-cent admission all day, from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. From 6:30-10:30 p.m., grab your letter jacket and poodle skirt and join the South Suburban and the City of Littleton for a free 50th Anniversary Sock Hop. All ages are welcome to enjoy live "oldies" performed by the Windjammers Jazz Orchestra with vocalist Charles King. There will be hula hoop, costume and dance contests along with door prizes. Food and beverages, including beer and wine, will be available for purchase. Those who RSVP to www.sspr.org or 303-730-4605 will receive a door prize, but advance registration is not required.
