"Doctor" Judy--Massage Therapist and Energy Healer

I met Judy Huffman--or "Doctor" Judy as I call her although she is not a licensed physician--about ten years ago when I lived in Highlands Ranch. I went to her for a facial. During the treatment she talked to me about message therapy because at that point in my life I was having migraines on a regular basis and looking for some relief. I had never had a massage and was nervous about having one. Yet I agreed when I heard the magic words "will help with migraines." I was hooked after the first massage! Not only did Dr. Judy help with my migraines, she helped me on a deeper, more spiritual level. I learned from her the power of positive thinking, something I had 'forgotten to remember' since my days of working at Positive Thinking Rallies in the last 1970s. She has never allowed me to talk negatively in our sessions! She also taught me to take time to meditate, exercise, and eat right.

At the time I met her, I was not published. I did a lot of talking about wanting to be published but was not actively pursuing having a book published. She told me to stop talking about it and do it! Well, I did and today I have two published novels and another on the way--and in no small part thanks to Judy!

To me Judy is a massage therapist and spiritual guide. She is what I call "an old soul." She reminds me of a wise medicine woman or shaman. Her hands are magic in knowing what is wrong in my body and working to guide it toward healing. Her heart, spirit, and wisdom have gently guided me to work toward--not just talk about--what I want to accomplish in life and to set my sights as high as necessary to get to the place where I want to be. She has also instructed me in meditation and in being still to listen to my spirit guide--or higher self--to learn my purpose for being here.

Following is an interview with 'Dr. Judy.' After reading the interview, visit her website-- http://www.beyondbodymindmassage.com/--to read about her services and what clients have to say about her.

Jonna Turner: Good morning, Judy. Please share with our readers your background and training?

Judy Huffman: Gladly! Just after I started Cosmetology College in 1976, I met Rev. Hanna Kroger at New Age Foods in Boulder--one of the first health food stores in America. Through Hanna I began to learn the need and uses for vitamin supplements, herbs, and energy work, all of which help the body to become and stay healthy.

That was only the beginning! Since then I have been a perpetual student--reading everything I can find and taking classes to learn all I can about helping others to help themselves heal and stay healthy.

I completed my Cosmetology Training in 1977 and joined a salon. Along with my cosmetology work, I continued my self-study and training in health and healing. In 1991 I took an intensive three-month course in Ortho-Bionomy, which is an osteopathic body therapy that works with the joints and energy of the body to help the body re-balance itself. I soon became an Advanced Practitioner. I then applied to and was accepted at Parker Chiropractor College. In preparation I took a year of Pre-Med and a 500-hour course in Therapeutic Massage Therapy in 1993. After that, I decided that I would rather practice Massage Therapy and Body Work rather than set up a Chiropractic practice.

In 1995 I took my first training in Reiki Energy Work, and by 1997 I became a Reiki Master and Teacher. Also in 1995 I was introduced to Essential Oils. I trained with Dr. Gary Young to work with his Young Living Essential Oils in healing and maintaining health.

In 2001 my Reiki teacher, Lorie Grant, began teaching a new, more powerful energy work known as ARCH--Ancient Rainbow Conscious Healing--which is a form of Hawaiian energy healing. I became an Advanced ARCH practitioner a year later. I then continued my training in healing, and in 2004 I fulfilled a life-long dream of becoming a Board Certified Hypnotherapist. I can now help my clients to use the power of their minds to restore and maintain health. In 2004, I also trained in Craniosacral Therapy--a light-touch manual approach that enhances the body's natural healing capabilities. The therapy works with the fluids that flow around the brain and down the spinal column and affect the whole body.

In 2005 I was introduced to another Hawaiian training called AKA--Ancient Kahuna Ancestral healing. I completed the first- and second-degree training in this work and feel that it is an even more powerful form of Energy Healing Work. I also trained in Polarity Therapy, which helps the body balance its flow of energy.

Most recently I participated in Lymph Drainage training because our lymph system is very important for removing body toxins and keeping the immune system healthy.

Jonna Turner: What is your philosophy of life and what are your goals?

Judy Huffman: I believe that the better I take care of myself, the better I can take care of all those around me! (This is true for everyone!) My life goal is really to help as many people as possible--to teach each of my clients to take better care of themselves both mentally and physically. My ultimate goal is to have a Whole Family, Whole Life Health Center set in a peaceful, mountain setting where whole families can come and learn about good nutrition, vitamins, herbs, self-massage, and exercise.

Jonna Turner: I know you continue to learn and obtain training in your field. What training will you participate in next?

Judy Huffman: At present I am learning about a new therapy called EFT--Emotional Freedom Therapy--that works to clear the emotional blockages that interfere with personal growth and success in life. And, I will continue my Lymph Drainage Training.

Jonna Turner: What services do you offer your clients?

Judy Huffman: I am still a cosmetologist--hair styling and skin care. Part of my skin care work includes facials, Intense-Pulse Light Therapy to keep the skin healthy and younger looking, and waxing on all parts of the body including the face, back, underarms, bikini, and legs.

I offer many forms of Massage Therapy combined into one using my extensive training outlined earlier as well as Energy Work. I also offer what is known as Long Distance Energy Work for those who cannot come to my salon. I have helped many people all over America and as far a way as Baghdad, where I sent energy healing to one of our service women over there, who is now home. I still send to energy to her and her family in North Carolina.

Jonna Turner: What makes your services different from other massage therapists?

Judy Huffman: Mainly I think what makes my services different is that I work with many varied therapies combined into one to help with every part of the BODY, MIND, and SPIRIT. I employ Energy work along with physical massage, where I use a variety of Essential Oils. Each oil has a special purpose, i.e., Raven oil for sinus problems/headaches. And I am always adding new products.

Jonna Turner: Where are you located and what are the days/hours?

Judy Huffman: I work in the Shear Art Salon at 2001 E. Easter #105 in Centennial, CO (the southwest corner of the old Southglenn Mall--Soon to be The Streets at Southglenn). The phone number is: 303-408-6925. I take appointments Tuesday - Saturday from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm. Feel free to visit my website for more information about my services and read Client Comments: http://www.beyondbodymindmassage.com/.

Jonna Turner: Do you offer discounts for first-time clients?

Judy Huffman: Yes. For first-time clients I offer a $10 discount on a one-hour massage (reg. $57) and free Hot Stone Therapy (reg. $5 extra). I also offer a $10 discount for first-time clients on Facials (reg. $52) and 10% off on waxing.
