Save money with new concept in home furnishings
Contributed by: Laurie Anderson on 6/20/2008

Sister-in-laws Tamara Brown and Jodi Brown have always had a passion for business and furniture. When they lived in California, they purchased a lot of their furniture at Urbanism, a warehouse styled store that sold quality furniture at 30 to 50 percent off retail prices.

When Tamara and Jodi moved to Colorado within two years of each other, they realized there was not a similar furniture store in the Denver metro area. Recognizing a need for such a store, they decided to start their own business and bring to Denver the same benefits that they experienced in California. With prices escalating and consumers watching their wallets more closely, they knew the timing was right.

After consulting with the owners of Urbanism for advice, Studio T Furniture was born ( www.studioTfurniture.com). Located in Centennial at 7302 S. Alton Way, Studio T offers customers quality furniture at heavily discounted prices and is open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or by appointment.

"We're not a large, luxurious retail store with regular business hours, which is partly how we are able to keep our cost down" explains Tamara. "Instead, we offer the buyer a convenient, easy way to find high quality, hip, stylish furniture and home decor at great prices. Most of our clients have already shopped around at the trend-setting retail stores in the mall and know what they want, but don't want to pay the high retail prices."

"Exceptional customer service is another one of our goals," explains Jodi. "Some of our clients are looking for customization. We offer a wider variety of fabrics, leathers and finishes than our competition, and we will assist our clients as needed to find the perfect piece for their home. We have samples from each of our supplier's catalogs in our warehouse for customers to see and feel the quality of the workmanship. After they have looked at some samples, we can point them in the right direction and guide them in reviewing our catalogs."

Tamara, 38, has a background in event marketing and sports nutrition-in addition to her love of furniture. She is a resident of Castle Pines North with two young children. "Another reason I wanted to open Studio T was so I could have flexible hours to spend more time with my girls. We are 'kid friendly' and have a small area with books and movies," she says.

Jodi, 41, a Colorado native, has a strong sales and marketing background. After many years in the corporate world, as an executive for Dell Computers, she decided to return to Colorado and look for something that better suited her own personal passions. A Washington Park resident, Jodi says "I've always enjoyed new business challenges and I've always enjoyed redecorating. Studio T gives me the opportunity to do both".
