For the 32nd year,
Dick Katte
, boy's basketball coach at Denver Christian High School will hold a summer basketball camp for boys. Katte's camp stresses the fundamentals with an emphasis on both individual and team skills. Katte believes that good basketball players are made, not born. Therefore he works to motivate young players to learn to perform with a high level of intensity and concentration. Katte says, "It is our feeling that you will get great satisfaction as you improve and have fun through drills, contests, hard work and games." He encourages young boys attending the camp saying, "You will leave a better player than when you came."
The camp is structured for boys in the grades 4 through 9 during the 2005-2006 school. Boys of any experience and ability level are welcome. The younger boys will attend sessions in the afternoon, while the older boys attend the morning sessions. The camp will be held June 5 - 8 at the Denver Christian High School campus in south Denver. The fee for the week is $75 and applications will be accepted until the camp is full. Participation is limited in order to maintain a player/coach ratio of no more than 10 to 1. Katte is assisted by other DC coaches as well as former and current players from Denver Christian.
Katte, fresh from winning his seventh state championship, still enjoys working with the younger players. His camps have helped hundreds of boys from not only Denver Christian, but also many other schools in the Denver area. DC also offers a basketball camp and a volleyball camp for girls. Applications, brochures and additional information can be obtained by calling the high school office at 303-733-2421 or online at
