Imaginative, ingenious, incredibly industrious - just a few words to describe two teams that put their heads together and with imagination and teamwork skills have earned the right to compete at the International level of creative problem solving - Global Destination ImagiNation.
A 4th grade and 5th grade team placed 1st and 3rd in the state, respectively, which qualified them for global finals, which take place at the University of Tennessee May 23-26.
There will be teams from all over the country and all over the world including teams from Turkey, Brazil and Poland to name a few.The competition will have over 10,000 students competing.
Destination ImagiNation teams build skits around a Team Challenge they have selected as well as competing in an Instant Challenge category, which requires them to solve a problem on the spot.
Molly Toussant, a 5th grade teacher from Willow Creek, co-ordinates the teams for competition which includes children from ages kindergarten through high school. Starting in 4th grade the kids can begin competing towards the Global tournament. Let's wish these kids good luck as they go on to represent Colorado in the Global Tournament.
