This post starts off faily boring. But, if you read on, it'll really get boring.
What is interpersonal communication competence?
Crafting competent messages
Preventing interpersonal incompetence
Improving you intercultural competence
Improving your competence online
Taking control of competence
I have no idea what any of this is.
Interpersonal communication competence means consistenly communication in ways that meet three criteria: appropriateness (your communication follows your goals). and ethics (your communication treats people fairly) and effectiveness (your communication enables you to achieve your goals).
I CAN'T GET THESE CAPS OFF!!!!!!!! O, I mean the bold type.
Acquireing knowledge of what it means to communicate competently is the first step . The second step is learning how to translate this communication knowledge into communicaton skills.
well I got the bold off. Crafting competent messages: There's a plaque that reads: Patience when it is easy is not patience.; only in situations where waiting is intolerable can true patience be achieved. OK Three kinds of messages: Ron, you jerk. I can't believe you don't have the work done! Ron, you said you'd get the work done on time, so you have to stick to your promise. I know you've been having problems, but everyone has problems, and out first priority is comopleting this project..As group leader, it's my responsibility to make sure you have it done. Have the worrk done by the grup meeeting tomorrow, or I'll have to fail hyouj from the group. Ron, thanks for letting me know. How much more time do you need? What's going on with your family that's keeping you from getting this work done?
That last response if baloney. Who'd be that way? O well. Let it be.
This message is an example of an overall POOR communication.
