Regis three-peats first place in mock trial

Regis Jesuit High School swept this year's Arapahoe District Regional Mock Trial Competition by winning both first and second places. The Regis "A" team scored the first place title for an unprecedented third consecutive year while the Regis "B" team took second place. Cherry Creek and Rock Canyon secured third and fourth places in the competition held at the Arapahoe County Justice Center on February 22 and 23. Eighteen teams competed this year, making it one of the largest fields in recent years. All four teams will advance to the state competition in Fort Collins, Colorado on March 14 and 15.
The case problem involves a robbery and murder of a young woman street musician at a farmer's market. Regis senior,
Matt Mannion
, won a "Best Attorney" award. Junior Charles St. John won "Most Valuable Performance" for his portrayal of the prosecution's expert medical examiner in rounds 2 and 3, while also crossexamining the same witness for the defense side in rounds 1 and 4. Freshman
Dee Ellidge
snared the "Best Witness" award for her portrayal of defense witness Sky Willow.
