As the 2008 presidential elections draw near, people continue to debate the appropriate balance of religious faith and political practice. Charles J. Chaput, the Catholic Archbishop of Denver, has recently authored a new book: "Render unto Caesar: serving the nation by living our Catholic beliefs in political life." At 7 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 23, Chaput will hold a book signing event at Borders' Bookstore in Park Meadows Mall, located at Park Meadows Dr., Lone Tree, CO 80125.

In recent weeks, Chaput's book rose to No. 27 on the New York Times' "Non-fiction Best Sellers" list. Additionally, the Sept. 7 Denver Post reported that it ranked No. 10 for local non-fiction best sellers.

In his book, Archbishop Chaput calls for Catholics to deepen their commitment to Catholic teaching on abortion, the death penalty, immigration, poverty and other matters of social justice - and to carry their faith-rooted convictions into public life. Furthermore, the archbishop writes that grounding citizenship in one's religious beliefs is not just a right, but a moral duty and a gift to American democratic life.
