Dear Centennial Friends,
Since returning home to Colorado from extended active duty in the Marine Corps recently, events seemed to warrant reengaging in our local democratic process - specifically the Centennial city elections. As things settle back to normal for me here in
Colorado, I wanted to take the time to you to ask you to join me in supporting Cathy Noon for Mayor in Centennial.
As a former mayor, I know that a good mayor must be committed to practical solutions and responding to citizen concerns. Cathy Noon has been very successful in bringing people together to solve local problems. As the President of the Centennial Council of Neighborhoods, Cathy has been listening to and representing citizens on every local issue from the impact of traffic to new land development applications.
Limited government is a principle I have fought for throughout my career. But local government must, at the same time, be effective. Cathy knows how to be effective. As a small business owner she knows how to work within a budget and how to get things done, with no excuses. Local government also requires a kind of fiscal responsibility we all know in our households and businesses - budgets have to be balanced. Too often, this fact is lost on those who resort to rhetoric alone when discussing our government. Cathy moves beyond rhetoric. She knows how to balance a budget.
In local government, our elected officials cannot get by on political grandstanding. City government requires a leader who gets the job done rather than plays political games. We saw Cathy Noon get the job done as the Chair of the Home Rule Charter Commission. We've seen her get the job done on the Task Force that wrote Centennial's first Comprehensive Plan. We've seen Cathy bring people from across the city together as the Chair of CenCON, making sure that neighborhoods' concerns are voiced and heard at the City.
Because Cathy represents the values that we embrace and that we need governing our communities, I urge you to vote for Cathy Noon for Mayor of Centennial.
Sincerely,
Steve Ward
