1st ANNUAL TEXAS HOLD'EM POKER TOURNAMENT
TO BENEFIT PROSTATE CANCER RESEARCH IN COLORADO
-Aurora, Colorado
Spencer Green, Clinical Director of Research for the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center's leading group of Colorado Prostate Cancer specialists, has announced the 1 st Annual Texas Hold'Em Benefit Poker Tournament will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2007 beginning at 1:00 PM at Table Steaks East, 3523 S. Parker Road in Aurora, Colorado.
"The fact is nearly a quarter of a million American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year which translates to
one in
six men. However, if there is a history of this illness in the family or the man is African American, the likelihood increases to
one in
three men", says Green, adding, "Colorado simply does not get the funding it needs, either from the federal government or the national prostate foundation, to support necessary research, pay for community education or provide affordable access to medical treatment and screenings that are critically needed for Coloradans today."
World recognized prostate cancer physicians, Dr.
L. Michael Glode, Dr.
E. David Crawford and Dr.
M Scott Lucia with the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center are the Progress for Prostate Foundation's scientific medical advisors who are seeking to advance
A Colorado Solution™ by holding community-shared benefit events throughout the year where every dollar raised goes towards supporting
Prostate Research at the University of Colorado.
Participation in the Texas Hold'Em Poker Tournament is open to the general public (must be 21 and over to play) by advance reservation as space allows and requires a minimum $100 (tax deductible) donation to the Progress for Prostate Foundation™. Players will also receive free food, beverages, and several chances to win door prizes such as a flat screen television, autographed pro sports memorabilia and gift certificates to local restaurants. Corporate table sponsorships range from $150 to $2,000 offering various levels of event sponsor visibility. No poker experience is necessary as professional dealers will help explain the rules and conduct the games.
"We also have NFL sports celebrities and others who are planning on joining us in this very fun day where every donation will help make significant progress in advancing treatment for an illness that happens to have a highly survivable and curable outcome if caught early," says Green.
Online registration is available at
www.progress4prostate.org or by calling 303-798-1338 for more information. A minimum donation of $100 ensures a place at a table or a ticket to observe.
Media interviews are available by appointment. Contact Spencer Green, 303-798-1338. Following are abbreviated bios for the above named physicians.
