Want to be a volunteer tutor?
Contributed by: Laurie Anderson on 7/14/2008

Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer position this fall? The Learning Source for Adults and Families, a local nonprofit organization working to educate Denver metro adults and families, is in need of volunteer tutors for its adult classes in the Denver metro area. Areas of instruction are English language, reading, writing, math and GED preparation, and no prior teaching experience is required.

Evening (6-9 p.m.) and morning (9 a.m. to noon) orientation and training sessions for volunteer tutors are scheduled on Tuesday, Aug. 5 and Thursday, Aug. 7 in Aurora. For more information and directions, contact Tom Oatts, volunteer recruiter, at 303-922-4683 or tom@coloradoliteracy.org.

"Many of our volunteer tutors return year after year," explains Susan Lythgoe, executive director of The Learning Source. "However, we continue to experience increased demand for our classes."

Established in 1964, The Learning Source (coloradoliteracy.org) is located at 455 S. Pierce in Lakewood and operates 26 literacy programs at 16 locations throughout the Denver metro area.
