County and City to conduct demonstrations of road repair equipment at libraries

Littleton, Colo - TheArapahoe County Public Works and Development Department and the City of Centennial will celebrate National Public Works Week May 18-24 to show the central role public works plays in the life of a community.

Public Works and Development will display road repair equipment at library locations throughout May and June. Drivers will explain how the equipment is used and conduct demonstrations. Last year over 2,000 children and adults attended the events at the libraries.

Instituted as a public education campaign by the American Public Works Association in 1960, National Public Works Week calls attention to the importance of public works in community life. The week seeks to enhance the prestige of the often unsung heroes of our society - the professionals who serve the public every day with quiet dedication.
