Sheriff: Carjacker strikes at 800 E. Orchard Road
Contributed by: Arapahoe County Sheriff on 5/30/2007

On May 30, 2007, at approximately 7:04 AM, Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to 800 East Orchard Road (near the intersection of Orchard Road and Clarkson Street) on a report of a robbery/carjacking. Upon arrival, they contacted the victim who said that she was in her car waiting at the stop light at Clarkson and Orchard when she was approached by a white male.
She rolled down the window and the male asked for directions. She told him that she could not help him and, as she was rolling up the window, he lunged into the car and began hitting her in the face. He then opened the door, sat on her lap, and continued hitting her in the face. She was able to get free and, as she was exiting the vehicle, got tangled in the seat belt and was dragged approximately 10 feet.

Deputies found the car abandoned in the 5900 block of South High Street. Douglas County Sheriff's Office Canine Unit was called to search the area, but the suspect was not found. Several items from the victim's purse were found along the Highline Canal and there were several witnesses to the crime.

The victim was taken to an area hospital where she was treated and released and the suspect was described as:

White male, early 20s, 5'6"-5'7", thin build, approximately 140 lbs., bright baby blue colored eyes, short reddish blond hair, possibly sideburns showing from under the hat, light colored goatee. Wearing baggie blue jeans, tennis shoes, dark
colored long-sleeved collared work shirt. Hat is described as knit, mostly gray in
color with a pattern all the way around it. Victim felt the black pattern on the hat
appeared to look like a person.

Anyone with information regarding this suspect or in this matter, is asked to call the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office at 303-795-4711.
