Youth commission participates in bill signing

On Thursday, May 29, Governor Bill Ritter signed legislation giving young people a formal role in advising the state legislature about the issues facing the future of Colorado.

House Bill 1157, sponsored by Representative Ellen Roberts and Senator Sue Windels, establishes a Youth Advisory Council of 40 voting 14 to 19 year old members and four non-voting members from the legislature. The Centennial Youth Commission testified twice in support of this bill.

Centennial Youth Commissioner Amy Barber spoke at the bill signing thanking the Governor for his support and expressing the benefits this bill will have to our youth and future.
