Name:
Sue Sandstrom
Office I'm running for:
Arapahoe County Treasurer
Age:
54
Family:
Daughter
Lindsey
,son
Erik
,son-in-law
Mark
,grandson
Tyler
What I do:
I am a self-employed CPA. I also serve on the Aurora City Council and am the Mayor ProTem this year.
Favorite place in town to hang out:
Any golf course, watching my son compete.
What I like most about living here:
As a 20 year resident of Aurora, I can truly say it's the people that make this a special place. There are so many people who care about this community and work to make it a great place to live, work and raise a family.
My interests and hobbies:
When I have time, I like to read and crochet. I enjoy going to
Rockies
and
Broncos
games.
Favorite thing to cook:
Holiday dinners for my family.
People who inspired me: Mrs. Smith
, my third grade teacher in Arvada. She instilled in me a desire to learn, to challenge myself and to never stop learning. I am as excited about learning new things and meeting new people today, as I was in third grade.
How have I contributed to my community:
I have served on many committees and boards, including:
Aurora Citizens' Advisory Budget Committee
Arapahoe County Citizens' Budget Advisory Committee
Aurora General Employees Retirement Plan Board
Cherry Creek School District Legislative Network
Regional Air Quality Council
Colorado Child Support Commission
Zach Burn Foundation
Aurora Republican Women
... and many others.
Biggest issues facing Arapahoe County:
In general, the County must continue to manage growth while maintaining our high quality of life. The Treasurer's office must always look for ways to increase office efficiency and utilize technology to provide high levels of customer service while protecting taxpayer dollars.
