Candidate packets available for Centennial municipal elections


Residents wishing to run for City of Centennial municipal office may pick up election packets beginning June 25. Packets will be available from Deputy City Clerk Brenda Castle at the City Offices, 12503 E. Euclid Dr., Suite 200, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Elections will take place November 6, 2007.

Four City Council seats, one from each ward, will be up for election, along with the City Clerk and City Treasurer seats. Council terms are four years; Clerk and Treasurer are two years. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, a registered voter, and a resident of the ward for which they seek election for one year prior to November 6. Clerk and Treasurer candidates must be a resident for at least one year in the city at large.

Packets contain candidate affidavit forms, a schedule of deadlines and instruction sheets to guide potential candidates through the process. Nominating petition forms will be available at the City Offices beginning August 7. Signed petitions must be returned to the Deputy City Clerk no later than 5 p.m., August 27.

Council seats up for election this year are currently served by Vorry Moon, Ward I; Bart Miller, Ward II; Andrea Suhaka, Ward III; and Todd Miller, Ward IV. Council members Bart Miller and Andrea Suhaka are term-limited.

The election will be held by mail ballot. Municipal elections are non-partisan. Anyone wishing further information may call the Deputy City Clerk at 303-754-3302.
