Arapahoe County Democrats announce candidates

Arapahoe County Democratic Party announces Democratic Candidates for County Clerk and Recorder, County Treasurer and County Assessor

The Arapahoe County Democratic Party is pleased to announce the following three candidates for county offices for the November 2006 Election. Kathleen Conway is running for County Clerk and Recorder, Doug Milliken is running for County Treasurer and Glen Emerson is running for County Assessor. All three candidates filed paperwork for their candidacy late yesterday afternoon.

Kathleen Conway, Aurora, brings ten years experience as the Chief Deputy Clerk and Recorder for Douglas County (1989). She served as a member of Governor Roy Romer’s Task Force on Foreclosure, and has been a Member of the Association of Record Manager’s and Administrators. Kathleen has an extensive financial background with various mortgage companies and First National Bank of Denver. She is married and is the mother of two adult children.

Doug Milliken, Centennial, is serving his second term as the Centennial City Treasurer after being re-elected in November 2005. Doug is the Centennial’s first treasurer and has been on that job for over five years. Doug managed a municipal finance department on Wall Street and created financial plan for cities all over America. Doug has been a CPA for more than 25 years and holds a master’s degree in accounting and taxation. Doug is a member of the National League of Cities’ Committee on Finance & Administration, a Member of the Colorado Municipal League’s Tax Policy Committee and serves on Centennial’s committees on Audit, Banking and Finance.

Glen Emerson, Littleton, a veteran, served four years in the United States Air Force including a year in Vietnam. Glen is the retired founder, stockholder and managing partner of Emerson and Company, PC, a CPA firm. Offices were in Aurora, Denver and Englewood and provided services to family-held businesses, non-profits and governmental units. Services included consulting, acquisition advice, auditing, tax returns, bank financial relations, accounting, bookkeeping and computer systems. Glen holds a BS in Accounting from the University of Colorado and is currently enrolled at Regis University in a master's degree program. He is married with two grown daughters.

All three candidates bring leadership, experience and a commitment to serving the citizens of Arapahoe County. These candidates will be formally nominated at the Arapahoe County Democratic Party Assembly on Saturday, April 8 at Rangeview High School in Aurora. Citizens are encouraged to learn more about these candidates between now and Election Day.
