Arapahoe Dems nominate candidates for election
Contributed by: Arapahoe County Democrats on 4/19/2006

More than 450 Arapahoe County Democratic activists gathered at Rangeview High School in Aurora on Saturday, April 8, to nominate their party's candidates for the 2006 election.

Among the candidates endorsed at the county party assembly were Colorado House incumbents Alice Borodkin, Morgan Carroll, Michael Garcia, Nancy Todd, and Speaker of the House Andrew Romanoff.

Delegates to the assembly showed their unification by electing all of the candidates unanimously.

"We had a large, enthusiastic turnout, which I think reflects the lineup of top-flight candidates we have in 2006," said Arapahoe County Democratic Party chairwoman Karen Middleton, who is a candidate for the Colorado Board of Education from Congressional District 7. "These candidates - and our party - are committed to the democratic values that voters endorsed statewide in 2004."

The following candidates were nominated at the assembly: Arapahoe County Clerk: Kathleen Conway; Assessor: Glen Emerson; Treasurer: Doug Milliken; Commissioner District 2: Tom Donahue; Commissioner District 4: Patricia Noonan. (A vacancy committee consisting of the Arapahoe County Democratic central committee will meet to discuss candidates for county coroner and sheriff.)

State House of Representatives, District 6: Andrew Romanoff; District 9: Alice Borodkin; District 36: Morgan Carroll; District 37: Angela Engel; District 38: Joe Rice; District 39: Mollie Cullom; District 41: Nancy Todd; District 42: Michael Garcia. (District 3 and District 40 will meet at a later date due to multi-county status.)
