Foaming flume

As often happens after a decent rain, the flume on Dry Creek (locally known as Willow Creek) turns into a miniature Niagara Falls.

Periodically, the deluge is accompanied by some strange "foaming" at the base of the falls. I was too late to capture the serious foaming this morning, but I did photograph the leftover foam.

Before there was a "Your Hub" (BYH), I took a picture of some significant foaming two years ago. I asked a few folks about the origin of this phenomenon, but got no answer. Is there a Your Hub reader who might have an idea as to the cause of this foaming?

When i was growing up in Michigan back in the 70's, the river that ran thru town would foam as it went over the dams. This only happened vvery early in the morning. Manufacturing plants were dumping upstream. Or maybe it's just frogs with gas.
