Our son
Mitchell
is 11 years old. He was born with Down syndrome and is also diagnosed with Autism. Though he is a fun loving and happy kid most of the time, he is also non-verbal and has trouble communicating. He has speech, occupational and physical therapy on a weekly basis to hopefully get him to function in the real world on a basic level. He is able to communicate through some basic sign language and pointing, and he is also working with one therapist and a machine that he can manipulate well to speak words for him.
We know Mitch enjoys sports like baseball and basketball because he'll watch them on television for long periods of time. But when we try to play with him his autism keeps him from focusing on the task at hand. His Autism also restricts him from being in crowded places surrounded by lots of noise.
So we feel the ideal spot for Mitchell to watch a baseball game would be in a private suite where it's more quiet and there is not so many people and distractions. This would keep him focused on the game with all of his family around him. We could not think of a more enjoyable day to spend, because every time we want to see a game we have to leave him at home with a sitter. This could give us all an opportunity to see the Rockies up close and personal in a suite with the sweetest kid around!
