The only thing better about going to a Rockies game with my family of five and seven of our closest friends would be to have the opportunity to watch the game from a suite at Coors Field. I would like to be selected for this fine prize primarily to share it with my 17 year-old son,
Derek
. Derek is affectionately known to his two younger brothers as Bobo. Even though his brothers
Luke
and
Brent
are nine and eight years old, respectively, I'm not sure they even know his real name is Derek.
Derek's passion is the Rockies. He looks forward to summertime to attend Rockies games, although he usually doesn't have the opportunity to sit in premium seats, and has never seen a game from a suite. Derek has worked a full-time job all summer, but also managed to find time to go to at least one Rockies game during each homestand. If he can't find a friend to go to the game, he takes one of his younger brothers. It would be hard to imagine the Rockies having many fans as loyal as Derek. He goes to the games decked out in his Rockies cap and Matt Holiday jersey, and usually arrives at the game two hours early with the hope of catching a ball for one of his brothers during batting practice. He also watches almost every game on television. In the rare event when a game is not aired, he is upset. I remember a Saturday night game in Houston this summer that was not aired. Derek stayed home and listened to the game on the radio while the family went out to dinner.
It would be great to win this prize for Derek because he is a huge Rockies fan and no one would appreciate it as much as him. But most importantly, it would be great to win this prize for Derek because he is a great kid. He's a tremendous help in caring for his two younger brothers, he makes good decisions, except for spending all his hard earned money at Rockies games, and I have never heard a foul or disrespectful work spoken by him.
I would be grateful for tickets to any of the remaining prize games, but I know that my wife,
Marcie
, would be especially grateful if we were selected for the San Francisco Giants game on September 3. Marcie's favorite baseball player is Giant's pitcher,
Barry Zito
. I guess he's better looking than I am. Derek would also love to see the Giants, as he is a fan of
Barry Bonds
. My two youngest sons, Luke and Brent, would be happy to see any game, especially from a suite. I would appreciate the honor of being selected for the opportunity to see a game from primo seats and to spend some fun time with my family and friends.
