Hawk...For the Record, been there done that when my kid played during the "Dark Days at Wyoming".
It hurts just thinking about what you, the kids and CU loyals are going through. It must be even worse for you Coach as you watch the team you built at Boise State ranked as high as #19 and climbing.
That said, the press and fans fail to give credit where credit is due.... THANK YOU BETSEY HOFFMAN!
Playing at a division 1 level involves both a recruiting and a maturation process. While there are boy wonders or LDS boys that elected to do 2 years of mission before enrolling, the normal player at this level doesn't see heavy action until his 3 rd or 4 th year in a program.
Oh you of short memories!! Two and three years ago the program was under Betsey's recruiting plan that forbid in season visits and no overnight visits among other absurd methods planned to destroy the program. These restrictions were more to enforce her "Plan 2010", a formal plan with explicit intent to replace inter-collegiate athletics with club sports than to penalize the athletic department for any of its failures.
Any program deprived of the opportunity to recruit #1's and #2's for several years will shortly see an easily anticipated disaster. Nothing against the fine men that executed letters of intent to play at CU when the program was under attack by the press, feminatzies and every professor jealous of scholarships funded specifically for athletes. I admire every one of them while they take beatings from lowly Baylor, Montana State and their fair weather fans.
Hawk, I feel for you as CU has likely won its last game for at least this year making thatunconventional blue field look awfully nice in the rear view mirror.
