College Kids, Credit Cards and T-shirts

Let me first admit that I am a t-shirt junkie. I love them. I have six drawers full at home. I am not that different from most college kids in that respect. The "free t-shirt" is the best thing since the Wii (sliced bread is so 1960's). So back to my topic, college campuses are the best place for those "free t-shirts". In the student union, football games, Spring Fling, there is always a table set-up with young (mid 20-somethings) offering "free t-shirts" just for signing up. That's right, all you have to do is sign up, for what you ask? There it is, the super subtle catch...a credit card. Student have opportunity after opportunity to get credit cards. After all they are over 18 and don't need a parent's permission to have one. The limits are small, but the cards are abundant. For those students who are reading this...Don't Do It! Talk to your parents about credit cards and debt. You might not think they know very much, but on this one, trust me, they do! Parents, I beg you, please talk to your students about the danger of credit cards and how misuse can damage their credit score and make the "real world" that much harder.
