HubCap: You write the caption
Contributed by: Brendan Leonard/YourHub.com   on 12/18/2006

As a highly-trained journalist, I know that a caption of a photo has two purposes:

1. To tell the reader what's going on in the photo and how it relates to the story it appears with.

2. To tell the reader what happened after the photo was taken, i.e., "After punching Mardy Collins, Carmelo then ran away."

Also, in the business, we often call captions "cutlines," which we believe makes us sound a lot cooler, but in fact doesn't.

A lot of the time, we write cutlines (yeah!) for photos that are pretty straightforward:

" Mayor Daly accepts a suitcase full of unmarked 20s from an unidentified mafia representative."

" Bobbi and Joanie Smith pose with their gingerbread house, made completely out of frosting."

But sometimes, for a photo to achieve its full comedic value, the cutline needs to be open to interpretation. Which is why we're giving you these three photos, posted recently on YourHub.com,and asking you to write cutlines for them. Be creative. More information as to what's actually going on the photos is available by clicking the links below, but it might be more fun not to know.
