Cherry Hills Village grad to attend KU


Cherry Hills Village Resident William Scherman to attend University of Kansas


Cherry Hills Village resident William Scherman, son of Debra and Daniel Scherman, graduated from Colorado Academy (CA) on Friday, June 5, 2009.

William has attended CA since 10th grade. His favorite classes were in English and math, particularly Epic and Forbidden Knowledge in addition to AP Calculus.


He developed a passion for photography at CA and was selected for the rigorous Senior Portfolio course. William was the 2007 recipient of the Chartrens Award and his artwork has become part of the permanent collection at CA.

William earned 7 varsity letters in his three years in ice hockey, lacrosse, and golf. He captained his club hockey team this past winter. He earned second team all-Metro conference in his last two years as the number one player on the golf team. He has competed in statewide golf tournaments for many years. A 4 handicapper, he may try to walk-on at the Division 1 KU golf program.

William was selected to be on the Community Leadership Team as a senior, serving as a mentor to underclassmen. He also traveled to Switzerland as part of an Overland Adventure program in the summer of 2007.

This fall, William is looking forward to attending University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas to study architectural engineering.
