The 8th Annual "Tables Extraordinaire"
Contributed by: Valerie Ranahosseini on 11/4/2006

"TABLES EXTRAORDINAIRE" is an opulent and truly fabulous presentation of holiday table settings hosted by the philanthropic ladies of Saint Catherine Philoptochos.

"Tables Extraordinaire" features over 40 beautifully and whimsically decorated tables each hosted and exquisitely decorated by the ladies of Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church and the Assumption Greek Orthodox Metropolis Cathedral. Strolling through this winter wonderland has inspired many to take the themes and ideas home for their holiday entertaining. Table themes range from familiar and exotic travel locations to glamorous place settings, to traditional holiday favorites.

The table viewing event will take place at Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 5555 South Yosemite Street, Greenwood Village, on Friday, December 1, (9am - 4pm) and Saturday, December 2, (9am -3pm); Admission to the table-viewing event is $10 including coffee and Greek pastries.ThePreview Party celebrated in high style with hors d'oeuvres, entertainment, and a cash bar Friday evening, December 1, begins at 6pm. Tickets are $25.

Greek pastries will be available for sale at each event.

"Philoptochos" literally translated means "friends of the poor". Saint Catherine Philoptochos Chapter is one of 500 chapters of National Philoptochos, which was established in 1931 as the Philoptochos Ladies Society of the Greek Orthodox Church. With 28,000 members, it is the largest philanthropic women's Christian organization in the world and serves as one of the philanthropic organizations of the Greek Orthodox Church. Annually donations by the national organization to charitable causes on the local level, nationally and internationally, exceed $1.5 million dollars.

The revenue generated by this event underwrites the many local and national philanthropic ministries undertaken by the chapter. Our latest local project was the renovation of Champa House, a part of the Denver Rescue Mission. Champs House is a nine unit transitional housing facility for single mothers and their children desiring self-sufficiency. This two-year project was completed by our ladies in September 2006.

"Tables Extraordinaire" is an incredible holiday event. Please join us for this breathtaking and divine extravaganza.
