On July 15,
Chief John H. Patterson announced to the Cherry Hills Village City Council the retirement of
Officer Jason McGurren. Chief Patterson spoke of McGurren's professionalism, dedication and courage during his tenure with the department.
Mayor Michael Wozniak presented McGurren with a retirement plaque and expressed the city's appreciation for his service. Officer McGurren was a member of the police department from January 1, 2003 until July 13, 2008.
McGurren was a patrol officer who handled many special assignments during his tenure. He was a patrol Field Training Officer, Range Officer and a member of the Motorcycle Unit. His most recent assignment was assisting with the department's accreditation process through the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police.
On July 16, 2008, a reception was held at the Village Center to honor Jason. Chief Patterson recalled many of the highlights of McGurren's career including the Medal of Valor award presented to Jason on November 21, 2006.
In his closing remarks, Chief Patterson said, "We appreciate all of his contributions to the department and his dedicated service to the Village. We'll miss him and we wish Jason and his wife,
Eva, all the best in the future."
