It seems that more and more couples are having difficulty conceiving a child and therefore are labeled "infertile". Most Western medicine treatments for infertility involve hormones and surgical procedures but acupuncture treatment is becoming more and more common. While used as an adjunct at some fertility clinics, acupuncture alone can be effective in helping couples conceive. I find that treating both parties (male and female) increases the success rate. Acupuncture helps reduce the negative impact of stress on the body .... and honestly, going through "infertility" diagnosis and treatment is very stressful for most couples. Acupuncture has been known to regulate menstrual cycles, improve blood flow to the uterus, and calm emotions. It is also successful to treat some of the conditions that accompany pregnancy like morning sickness and acid indigestion.
