The Fellowship of Servant Santas (FOSS) is an organization of professional Santas who choose to uphold the traditions of Saint Nicholas, Bishop of Myrna, who is generally recognized as the historical predecessor to today's 'Santa Claus.'
St. Nicholas lived his life, and ministry, anonymously doing good deeds within his community in serving God. Known as a protector of children and a compassionate benefactor of the poor and less fortunate, he dedicated his life to keeping the true spirit of Christmas all the year long.
Servant Santas seek to emulate the ministry of St. Nicholas as they offer their professional service to homebound children and adults stricken with life threatening illnesses (terminally ill). This also extends to the special needs category.
Blending traditional 'Clausing' with an underlying respect for the 'Real Reason For The Season,' Servant Santas donate their time and and volunteer their efforts to cheer and comfort the 'True Believers' they visit.
Servant Santas extend their services to any and all who would expectedly benefit from such a visit. Volunteer Visits may be scheduled at any time of year, when time, distance or prior-commitments do not prohibit. We highly encourage non-December visits as we can then be extremely flexible. Services are limited, for right now, to the Denver Metroplex, to include Bailey et al.
MISSION STATEMENT
As professional representatives of the spirit of of Santa Claus, we will seek to joyously represent God's love at Christmas by sharing the true 'Reason For The Season'... the birth of Jesus Christ.
We will allow the red color of our suits to represent the blood that the infant Jesus would later shed on the cross, for our sins, and the white fur thereon to represent the cleansing of our souls through His sacrifice and love.
We believe that the greatest gift anyone can ever receive is the gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
In testimony thereto, we respectfully undertake our professional Clausing efforts, in celebration of the Infant's birth at Christmas, while preserving the traditional joy and merriment that accompanies a visit with 'Santa Claus.'
Toward that end we will maintain: An open, loving and compassionate heart for children, and adults, we visit.... Arms big enough to hug each child, or adult, who needs, or wants, a hug.... Ears that are always willing to listen ... Eyes that will see all we visit as they are seen by the loving eyes of their Creator.... A voice that will affirm God's love, as expressed by the joys of the Christmas season, to each and every child, or adult, who believes.
This we promise, in His service.
