Hi, I thought that I would write some more about my brother, George Vernon Parks.
Well, it's coming up on a year and still no one has been made to take responsibility.
I wonder why this is, when almost everyone in town knows exactly who did this to George.
How is it that Commerce City can allow at the least three killers to walk the same streets that you and I do? I can't understand. They know who did this to my brother.
At the least shouldn't they, all involved in the beating of George, be at least arrested for that part of his murder? First they kicked my brother's door in and then they proceeded to beat him nearly to death. At least three perpetrators beat him so severely that I hardly could identify my own brother.
Imagine three full grown men (beasts) beating you and having no way of defending yourself. First of all, my brother weighed at the most 130 pounds. I ask myself every day why did they not at least get charged with assault with a deadly weapon, or assault with intent. I may not know the law very well, but in my eyes, this is a total miscarriage of justice. It makes me wonder what is really going on in the Commerce City Police station.
Is there more corruption going on in my brother George's murder investigation? See, I have also been told a relative of the killer's works directly with the Commerce City Police. Now, let me say, that this could be the wrong information given to me. Lord knows I have been given many different stories about this night, but I'm pretty sure that this person is working or has worked through the agency somehow or some way. Could it be that the city is trying to protect them from their family's crimes? Again this is all hearsay until I can prove it.
I also have many questions unanswered , like why is it that my brother's memorial was ran over several times while the Commerce City Police were in pursuit of an arrest, only two nights before they were threatening to throw me in jail if I didn't not have the memorial removed completely within 48 hours?
I sat there and listened to one cop tell me that I sat at home too much and watched too many cop shows on TV, because I was asking him questions about them not solving my brother's murder, i.e., questions like: Did they check the hands of the assailants for gun powder residue? And there was an exchange of gunshots, so doesn't that prove that they were there at my brother's room, and that they came with ill intent, premeditated maybe even? I personally don't think that this would take a rocket scientist to solve.
All the pieces are right in front of us. All I want is fairness, justice and some serenity, from all that has occurred. There are many other mistakes made on behalf of the Commerce City Police Department that I will not be able to speak about quite yet, in fear it too may hamper my brother George's murder investigation even more than it has already been. Might I also say that my brother's memorial was such a nice sight for many to see? I kept it up every day. There were candles and lanterns and flowers, mementos that others had brought there. His 17-year-old son had placed many things there that gave him peace in his already ripped-apart heart.
Many friends and family came almost every day of the week for eight months until the city decided that they no longer had room for our grieving. There are two memorials right down the street from where George's was ran over, and there had not been anything said or done to remove them. To my knowledge, it is not against the law to grieve for a loved one and until the police solve this murder case, we as a family are unable to move on.
It is so tragic that they would insult and cause even more pain to a family that is already going through so much at the hands of these killers. Please, I beg you as a community to please help if you can, in any way you're able. If you seen or heard anything at all, no matter how big or how small, please, please call the detective on George's case. His name is Det. Zbrouski. His number is 303-287-2844. Anything at all.
The night it happened was Dec. 27, 2005, just two days after Christmas, at the Clearview Motel on the corner of Quebec and Highway 2, Room 27, two doors down from the owners' house, somewhere between the hourse of 12 a.m. and I believe 2:30 a.m. or so. Please, if you seen a vehicle or persons leaving the motel or going to it, maybe you heard gunfire and seen something or someone.
Please help our family so that my brother's murder is not left unsolved and this family, his sons and daughters can try and continue on, and their dad can finally rest in peace.
Thank you for your time. By the way, we, the family and friends of George Vernon Parks, will be having a candlelight vigil from the 26th of December till Dec. 27, 2006, at the Clearview Motel, starting at midnight the 26th in remembrance of my big brother and all he meant to us as a family, father and friend, and most of all, another human being who did not deserve to be murdered.
Please, you are welcome to stop by. We would appreciate all support from our community. God bless, and if you have any information it will be kept at the highest of confidence.
Thanks again,
JDW

I feel for your loss but know the story and this one is fiction from what I hear. Summarized, In reality he got b-slapped for doing something he shouldn't have done, then only after the others left did he get his gun and run out of the room shooting, hitting a young man in the face. I say self defense.

George Parks was a far cry from from the peaceful 130 lb man described. He was a drug dealer and sold stolen property. He got smacked in the face 2 or 3 times in a fight with one man not three. At that point it was over. He is the one that came out with the gun shooting. Your beef is with the Detective. He has always known who did what.
