Taking a step to finding a cure!
Contributed by: Jami Alleman on 9/2/2008

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's (JDRF) Walk to Cure Diabetes raises money to find a cure for type 1 diabetes. Last year, nearly $100 million was raised through the Walk to Cure Diabetes nationwide. This year, the Denver Walk will be held on Sunday, September 14th at Elitch Gardens and aims to raise $1 million.

My name is Donna and I am a resident of Commerce City. This year I am leading "Cayden's Crew" in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk to Cure Diabetes on Sunday, September 14 at Elitch Garden's. I am walking for my grandson, Cayden, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 4. Cayden is now 6 and starting first grade.

What began as a happy and carefree childhood for a beautiful little boy has now turned in to a life of "finger pokes", insulin shots and constant monitoring of blood sugar to make sure that Cayden does not get sick.

Because diabetes has impacted each and everyone in our family, we decided to band together as "Cayden's Crew" and help in the efforts to raise funds for research and hopefully find a cure for this terrible disease.
