Candidate profile: Edward Casso
Contributed by: Edward Casso on 9/7/2006

Edward Casso is running for House District 32.

My name: Edward Casso

Age: 32

My family:
Selena Casso, spouse. Two children, Cecelia 8, and Aristotle 5.

What I do:
I am a teacher both and an alternative high school in the summer (EYC) and a part-time teacher in Denver Public Schools.

My favorite place in town to hang out:
We like the Starbucks on 102nd and Grant. It is close to our house and has a relaxed atmosphere.

What I like most about living here:
It is home. I was born in Thornton, Colorado, and my family is from Commerce City. It just feels right living here, and the people and neighbors are very friendly.

My interests and hobbies:
I play chess, read for enjoyment, watch political television, and blog. I also enjoy lifting weights, watching football, and playing football. The best hobby we have right now is watching our son play flag football. We also love to watch our daughter ballet dance and cheerlead.

What is my favorite thing to cook:
My favorite thing to cook are hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill with all of the sides.

People who inspired me (and how):
My freshman football coach, history, and government teacher Joe Domko from high school. He was a wonderful mentor and really sparked my interest in government. My children and spouse also inspire me to want to be a leader they can be proud of.

How I have contributed to the community:
We are very active in our community through our children. We are active in their local school, and have attended many meetings concerning District 12 education. We have participated in many fundraisers for both of our children in the community groups and organizations they are in, and we have taken an active part in being active parents in their groups. I have represented my community as a precinct committeeperson and House District 32 Co-Captain in the ACDP.

What are the biggest issues facing community now:
We need to make sure our neighborhoods are growing responsibly, that our schools are high quality, and that our sick are attended to. Our next state representative must have a genuine interest in leading the community and addressing the legislature to meet these needs. This is the leader I want to be for Thornton, Commerce City, and Henderson if elected.
