We always hear about the bad things that are happening in the world. Now here's some good news!
We all have our heros and my family's hero is our Mother and Grandmother,
Doris Martin
.
She turned 100 on Feb. 12. We will be celebrating her 100th Birthday at 2-6 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Spirit of Christ Catholic Church, 7400 W. 80th Ave. in Arvada.
This lady is exceptional, she lives by herself in a Senior Citizen apartment complex at Orchard Hills in Thornton.
She does her own shopping, cleaning and cooking. She loves to be on the go and is a member of the Red Hat Ladies, her nickname being
Lady Red Slippers
.
She was always a dancer and she still loves to dance but she is not as vigorous as she used to be.
She had four children, two are deceased in the past year-and-a-half. Her surviving son lives in Missouri and her daughter lives in Denver.
Martin has lived in Denver her whole life, she was married here, raised her kids here and has enjoyed her whole life here around her family.
She and her sister ar the only survivors of her family and her sister will be 98-years-old in March.
Three years ago she went Jet skiing with some of her family. She rode in on a jet ski and had a ball.
She has 107 grandkids, and great grandkids, great-great grandkids.
Claudia Lantzy is Martin's daughter and lives in Denver with her family.

That's awesome! She sounds so upbeat, I would love to hear more about her life -- all the changes she has lived through!

Your mother is an inspiration! I only hope I am that lively if I ever reach a century.
