LITTLETON - Tricia Dampier, the Colorado director for the Mrs. America Pageant system, is announcing that Laura Mekelburg was recently selected as the new Mrs. Henderson and will represent her community in the 31st annual state competition, to be held May 12 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver.

The winner of the state competition will receive a prize package valued at more than $10,000 and advance on to compete with 49 other state delegates at the Mrs. America Pageant.

Laura is a Colorado native and was raised on a dairy farm in Limon where she graduated High School.

Laura and her husband LeRoy met and married while attending UNC in Greeley. Together they have three children: Jennifer, Lisa and Preston and are the proud grandparents of 3-month-old Leila.

We are members of Summit of Peace Lutheran Church in Thornton. Laura works at UPS and in her free time enjoys scrapbooking, reading and being outdoors.

Celebrating its 31st year, the Mrs. America organization is the only nationally-televised pageant competition to recognize the one person who contributes so much to modern family life ... America's married woman!

While beauty is a key element in the competition, Mrs. Colorado contestants are also urged to voice their opinions on marriage and important issues of the day.

For pageant information, visit www.mrscolorado.com or contact Dampier at 303-904-3709.
