Blotter: Kids use BB gun to shoot cop car

KIDS USE BB GUNS TO SHOOT COP CAR

Commerce City officers were dispatched to 6600 block of East 56th Avenue in reference to someone shooting a BB gun June 15. Two citizens had called in to report damage to property. The first man had his passenger window of his vehicle shot out by a BB gun and the second man, who was riding a bicycle, was shot with a BB. As an officer arrived he heard a BB hit his patrol car. The officer located the window where the shot came from and contacted an 11-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy along with their parents. Officers also found two BB guns inside the juvenile's bedroom and both juveniles pointed at each other stating, "He did it, he shot the cop." Eventually the boys admitted to shooting BB guns at passenger cars from the bedroom window, while their parents were sleeping. Both boys were cited for illegal discharge and injury to private property.

OFFICER FINDS GUN, PARAPHENALIA

An officer conducted a routine traffic stop on the 6200 block of East 62nd Avenue June 17. During a consent search of a backpack claimed by one of the occupants, the officer discovered some drug paraphernalia and a TEC-9 style handgun. The man who claimed the backpack then took off running to the north. The suspect was apprehended in the 6300 block of Monaco Street.


SMOKING POT BEFORE TRAFFIC STOP

An officer stopped a driver for speeding June 17. When the man lowered his window to speak to the officer, the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana in the vehicle. Consent to search was obtained from the driver and several small packages of marijuana were found and confiscated. The driver was arrested and transported to CCPD and later released pending charges.

BOY VICTIM OF HIT AND RUN

Officers were dispatched to the 7400 Block of Oneida Street on a 13 year old who was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle June 17. The boy had injuries and was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The suspect vehicle was described as a 1995 to 1997 Ford F150 pick-up, white, single cab, short bed and dark tinted windows. There may have been blue paint transfer on front end. The vehicle stopped very briefly then took off quickly toward Quebec Street, turning south.

WOMAN BEAT UP FOR 2 RINGS, $5

Officers were called to Saint Anthony's Hospital North on June 17 to contact the victim of a street robbery. Officers contacted a woman who advised that between 10 and 10:30p.m., she was walking north on Colorado 2 from the Triangle T Motel when she was approached by an unknown adult male and juvenile male. The woman said the male asked her for a cigarette and she told him she did not have any. As the male passed her said he grabbed her hair from behind, pulled her to the ground and punched her in the face several times. The man took two rings from her fingers and $5 from her pocket. The woman received facial fractures. The adult male is described as white, in his 40s. The juvenile male is described as white and on a bike that may have been the BMX variety and silver in color.
