Man rolls car, drives off
At 10:50 p.m. July 1, officers responded to the area of Quebec Parkway, south of Hwy 2, on a roll over accident. The person who made the 911 call said after the vehicle rolled over, it landed on its wheels and drove off north on Hwy 2. Officers saw signs of the accident and a knocked down utility pole. A short time later dispatch received a call from dispatch that Brighton Police Department contacted a man in their area driving a suspicious vehicle with heavy damage. A Commerce City officer responded and questioned the driver. The man said he had been to Sharpe's Roadhouse in Commerce City drinking with some co-workers. He was transported by ambulance to Platte Valley Hospital for injuries received in the accident. Officers issued the man a summons for a driving under the influence, careless driving and a hit and run.
Juvenile tries to fight sister, officer
At 2:29 a.m. July 2, an officer came upon a physical disturbance in a yard in the 6900 block of Monaco Street. A mother was trying to separate her son from hitting her daughter. As the officer approached the pair and tried to stop the underage male from hitting his sister, he turned and started to fight with the officer. Another officer arrived on scene and he and the first officer managed to get the man under control. The juvenile was taken to the hospital because he was "highly intoxicated." The juvenile was issued a summons for resisting arrest and illegal possession of alcohol.
Duo steel rims
At 3:15 a.m. June 29 an off-duty sergeant with the Commerce City Police Department was on his way home after his shift when he observed a vehicle parked on East 60th Avenue at Quebec Parkway. The sergeant saw two people loading rims into the trunk of a vehicle and then drive off. The sergeant contacted 911 and told the dispatcher the direction and location of the car. Officers located the man and woman who had eight aluminum rims in the back seat and in the trunk. The couple said they stole the rims to sell for scrap. They were issued a summons and released.
