FIRE STARTED AT PARK
Commerce City Police officers responded to a structure fire at Stampede Park, 11755 Fairplay St., on Oct. 26. Two juvenile suspects were seen running from the scene. The fire was started on the cement floor of the men's restroom with toilet paper and was extinguished when the suspects ran away. Officers also found fresh graffiti on the sidewalk and in the restroom facility. The suspects were described as middle school-aged boys.
TRUCK COLLIDES WITH CAR
Officers responded to an injury accident in the 3900 block of Interstate-270 on Oct. 28. A semi-trailer jackknifed and rear-ended a small compact car. The driver of the car had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for observation. A westbound lane of the highway was blocked by the accident, and about 150 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway. CDOT shut down the westbound lanes of the highway until it was cleaned. Westbound I-270 traffic was diverted onto Highway 85 during the closure.
DRUNK TRUCKER ARRESTED
An officer was dispatched to Deno's Truck Stop on Nov. 7 in reference to a man who was attempting to get into other vehicles in the parking lot. The officer contacted the man, who was extremely intoxicated. After the man was taken into custody, officers determined that he had been going from vehicle to vehicle trying to find his wife who had left with another trucker to get alcohol. Paramedics took the man to the hospital.
STOLEN VEHICLES RECOVERED
A coring and sawing company reported that a 1987 Ford dump truck and a Superior trailer with a Caterpillar skid loader had been stolen from their property at 9630 Dallas St. on Oct. 27. The truck and skid loader were equipped with GPS tracking devices. As the report was being made, the GPS had been activated and Denver Police located the truck and trailer at 51st Avenue and Clarkson Street. The skid loader was missing, but also had GPS, which showed a current location in Lakewood. Lakewood Police responded to 900 block of Benton Street and recovered the loader.
