City opens ‘fast lane’ for permit approval
Contributed by: City of Commerce City on 5/13/2008

Do you have a last-minute home-improvement project and need a quick turnaround on your plans? The city's got you covered. Bring your small projects to the city building department on Fridays and have your projects reviewed while you wait.

The city now offers 'Fast-lane Fridays,' a new program for homeowners and others who need a quick review of minor plans. The program will be an ongoing service of the Community Planning and Development Services (CPDS) Department.

"The idea is to make it easy for homeowners and others with small projects to get over-the-counter approval while they wait," said Russell Wonders, assistant building official with the city. "Staff members, including permit technicians, plan examiners and city planners are all in place to make this process easy."

Project plans submitted for Fast-lane Fridays must be able to be reviewed in a short time period; large-scale or more complicated plans brought in on Fridays will be reviewed in the regular, four-day or 20-day approval process as applicable.

The fast lane is open 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on Fridays at the Commerce City Civic Center, 7887 E. 60th Ave. For more information, call (303) 289-3683.
