Charlene Meeker
is the new face at the Derby Resource Center. Meeker is the new Derby redevelopment coordinator for the city's efforts in revitalizing the Derby area. This position is funded by a grant from Suncor.
Meeker will oversee various aspects of the redevelopment project, working with businesses, associations and property owners. She will review applications for the Commercial Catalyst program and applications for improvements to property or land in Derby. The Commercial Catalyst program is a city-funded project that will help local business owners offset façade improvements to existing buildings.
Meeker will serve on the Derby Review Board and will inform the community of any happenings in Derby, including the Urban Renewal Authority (URA). She also will work to attract and promote residential opportunities.
"I thrive on being a catalyst for connecting others with the people and resources that help them accomplish their goals," said Meeker. She received her Master's in Public Administration at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and joins the city with more than 10 years of experience in nonprofit management, government affairs and public relations.
"We are excited to have her be part of Commerce City redevelopment resources," said
Brian McBroom
, director of community planning for the city. Having Meeker at the Derby Resource Center will be an asset to citizens and business owners, because she will be their neighbor as well as their liaison to the city, he said.
Meeker said that she is committed to community development that provides an opportunity for all voices to be heard. She has a passion for the world of community development and will enjoy working with the community to reach its goals of building a "quality community for a lifetime".
Stop in to meet Meeker at 7270 Monaco. She is eager to get to know the community and looks forward to working with residents and business owners in Derby.
Contact her at (303) 289-1735 or cmeeker@c3gov.com if you have any questions or would like more information on the Commercial Catalyst program.
