Metro voters put FasTracks on national map
Contributed by: FasTracks Public Information on 6/23/2008

RTD, Denver Metro Region featured on NBC Nightly News June 17, 2008

At a time when our nation is suffering from a weakened economy, many Denver residents are turning to public transit in an effort to tighten their wallets. The need for affordable, accessible transportation has never been greater or more difficult to provide as a result of rising fuel, labor and construction costs. Thanks to the vision of Denver voters in 2004, however, RTD's FasTracks program is on track to deliver a world-class transit system that will provide superior mobility options throughout the Denver metro region.

Fourteen years ago, Denver had no rail service. Now, it's referred to as the "National Poster City" for the vision and future of mass transit. RTD attributes this success to the many patrons and supporters who made the FasTracks vision a reality in 2004, paving the way for transportation alternatives in our community, as well as for transit agencies across the country.

NBC's Nightly News recently featured the Regional Transportation District's (RTD) transit system on the segment "Can't get there (cheaply) from here." To view this segment, click on the link below.
