The city's Quality Community Foundation is now accepting applications for its scholarship award.
Past recipients have used the scholarships to study nursing, civil engineering and other technical fields, and to pursue college degrees.
This year's award recipients will be announced at Commerce City's Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 25. All applicants must be residents of Commerce City and attend or be accepted to a Colorado college, university or vocational school. Applications must be postmarked no later than Tuesday, April 14.
Residents must be attending, or have plans to attend, a college, university or vocational school in Colorado. They also must have achieved and continue to maintain an acceptable grade-point average of 3.0 based on a 4.0 scale. Transcripts are required for each stage of the scholarship program.
Selected applicants will receive a scholarship of at least $1,000 per academic year for up to a total of $4,000 in four years. Applicants must provide proof of acceptance to a college, university or vocational school in Colorado and provide proof of class schedules and credits received at the beginning of each academic (semester) term.
