Matthew Carter vowed to swim through a river of chocolate if students at his school could hit a fundraising goal and last week, he did his best to deliver on that promise.
Carter, the dean of students at Second Creek Elementary School in Commerce City, barreled down a slip and slide runway covered with chocolate pudding to the delight of hundreds of students and staffers. The stunt was a reward for students who raised almost $24,000 for a school fundraiser.
"It was quite the experience," said Carter, who donned a red bathrobe and ski goggles for the event. "It was definitely different."
His co-workers dreamed up the idea of swimming through a river of chocolate if students met the fundraising goal. They were looking for something different from the popular head-shaving stunts.
So, will this become a new tradition at the school?
"I'm sure we'll end up doing something, but it might be hard to come up with something that will top this," Carter said.
