I showed up for the Democrat caucus at my local polling place. I verified in the morning where I was supposed to go and time with the state election office.
Eagerly waiting for the caucus that night, I asked a few friends to come with me, as we need all the votes we can get. We showed up to the caucus two minutes before 7 p.m. and were told that we missed the sign-in and could not participate. I was sort of mad, because we were standing in the hallway as that was the only room that was available to stand.
They had some guy standing in the corner saying stuff that no one where I was standing could hear. Then I heard my precinct number yelled and someone said "meeting where?" There was so much confusion and it appeared that everyone was lost. I asked another person where do we check in and was told again that I was late.
I have participated in two other caucuses in two other states, and NEVER was treated like this! My friends were upset as well and one of them stated that if Hillary was not on the general election ballot, that he was not going to vote.
I cannot believe that Adams Country Democrats cold have let such a thing like a caucus be so un-organized.
My friends and I left Thimmig Elementary, where the caucus was held, very upset last night at 7:02 p.m. On the way out we saw some people pulling up in the parking and they asked if this is where the caucus was and I advised that they could not vote or even voice their concern, as they were "late", they didn't seem to be happy and got back in their car and left.
Needless to say, I wondered how many other caucus locations in Colorado were run the same way? Were people turned away? Did the caucuses started too early? Were the people running the caucuses too inexperienced?
I am another "voter" who got the shaft. When Colorado politicians come around again asking for contributions, my answer will be a firm "NO".
