David Beckham to Make First Appearance in Colorado Thursday

Fans at the 2007 MLS All-Star Game Could Rub Shoulders With the World's Most Famous Athlete as he Visits Dick's Sporting Goods Park for the First Time Thursday, July 19

COMMERCE CITY, CO (ColoradoRapids.com) - It's official: "Beckhamaina" is set to hit Colorado next week.

The world is buzzing about David Beckham's arrival in America, and the swarms of paparazzi have just deluged "Becks" and his family as they arrived at their new home in LA, where he was introduced to the public at a Galaxy press conference on Friday.

For fans of Beckham from the Rocky Mountain region, good news: MLS has announced that Beckham will make his first public appearance in Colorado this coming Thursday as he visits Dick's Sporting Goods Park for the 2007 MLS All-Star Game.

Beckham won't be playing in the match, but will attend as a spectator, watching the Rapids' own Pablo Mastroeni and the rest of the MLS All-Stars as they take on world powerhouse Glasgow Celtic FC. Fans attending the All-Star Game next Thursday could find themselves rubbing shoulders with Beckham himself at the stadium!

The Colorado Rapids also announced today that tickets for the 2007 MLS All-Star Game have officially sold out and that standing room-only tickets for this event will go on sale this Monday, July 16, at 10:00 a.m.. Standing room-only tickets will be priced at $25 and will be available at the Dick's Sporting Goods Park Box Office or by calling the Rapids at 303-825-GOAL (4625). Standing room-only tickets are of limited availability and are expected to sell out quickly, so the Rapids encourage fans to purchase their tickets as soon as possible Monday morning.

In January, Beckham agreed to join the LA Galaxy after spending his last four seasons with Real Madrid of Spain's La Liga. From 1992 to 2003 he played for the EPL's Manchester United, where he scored 62 goals for the Red Devils.

He and wife Victoria, a.k.a. Posh Spice, arrived in Los Angeles on Thursday from London to begin their new lives in America. Dozens of reporters and photographers, many of them paparazzi, jostled behind barriers set up in the terminal as sports' royal couple strolled past on their way to a waiting black sport utility vehicle.
