COMMERCE CITY, CO (Tues. Aug. 21, 2007) - The Colorado Rapids announced today that the club will make available a limited amount of standing room-only tickets for this Sunday's home match vs. the Los Angeles Galaxy at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Sunday's game marks the first time that the world's most famous athlete, David Beckham, is scheduled to appear on the pitch in Colorado.
A select number of standing room-only tickets will go on sale at 10am tomorrow, Wed. Aug. 22, for admission to the stadium on Sunday. Tickets are priced at $15 per person, and can only be ordered by calling the Rapids Ticket Hotline at (303) 825-GOAL (4625), or in person at the Dick's Sporting Goods Park box office, starting at 10am sharp tomorrow morning. For information on box office hours and location, fans can log onto www.DicksSportingGoodsPark.com.
Single seat tickets to Sunday's match vs. the Galaxy had originally sold out in less than 90 minutes when tickets went on sale to the public back in March.
Riding high atop a 2-game win streak after consecutive victories over both of the league's conference leaders, the Colorado Rapids are scheduled to host David Beckham and the rest of the LA Galaxy this coming Sunday night, August 26, at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Kickoff is at 5:00pm MT and the game will be broadcast live on Altitude Sports & Entertainment.
The Rapids currently hold the #4 spot in the West on 24 points, 10 points clear of the Galaxy, who are holding down the #5 spot in the West on 14 points.
This will be the second of three meetings this year between the two clubs. In their last encounter, the Rapids downed LA 1-0 on May 26 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. In that match, the Rapids rode a Herculez Gomez goal and a Bouna Coundoul shutout to defeat the Galaxy in front of a sold-out then-record crowd of 18,458 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
With their May win over LA, the Rapids continued their dominance over their Western Conference rivals in the Centennial State; the Rapids are now 13-7-3 all-time vs. LA at home. They have kept the Galaxy without a regular-season win in Colorado in the last half-decade, as Colorado haven't conceded a home loss to the Galaxy since 2002.
