Commerce City resident wins golf tournament
Contributed by: City of Commerce City on 10/25/2007

COMMERCE CITY - Commerce City resident Erik Hogan will move on to the national championship after winning the Chrysler Club Championship regional qualifying event Monday, held at The Club at Predera in Parker, Colo.

Hogan, winner of Buffalo Run's Men's Club Championship the past two years, carded a 70 during the 18-hole event. Hogan is one of 32 that advance to the national championship at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Fla., home of the PGA's Merrill Lynch Shootout. Hogan won the spot in the national event from among more than 100,000 participants nationwide at the local and regional tournament levels.

In its fourth year, the Chrysler Club Championship is one of the largest amateur golf programs in the United States. At the 2007 nationals in December, Hogan will have the opportunity to meet PGA Tour professional Greg "The Shark" Norman and compete for an even bigger prize - a spot in the 2008 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in Palm Springs, Calif.

Hogan is a Colorado native and graduate of the University of Northern Colorado, where he was a member of the golf team.
